The primary initial deliverable will be a process and improvement Plan detailing the areas under review. This plan will include timescales and responsibilities as well as, most importantly, the benefits to the organisation. Examples of areas reviewed include financial and management reporting, working capital management and process change management. The benefits achieved include:-

Initiatives to ensure that the Finance function operates effectively with other functions through improved communication and collaboration

Improved cashflow from debtors, creditors and stock control

Indirect tax planning through initiation of a Tax Risk Register including identifying issues arising from new legislation following EU VAT changes starting in 2010

Clear roadmap to progress towards process improvement by identifying key process touch points

Clearer understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems reporting management leading to improved internal control

The Plan is agreed upfront and implemented with, of course, regular feedback and will be updated during the course of the assignment.

The above can be provided whist working within an existing team (at Director or Controller level) or independently – either way, the over-riding objective is to help Directors & Management increase control and efficiency through effective process improvement.
